From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
I would highly recommend Bayley Brothers Funeral Directors Hereford for the efficient yet compassionate way in which they arranged and conducted the funeral of my late parents.
An excellent service. Bayley Brothers were extremely helpful throughout the whole process, from making the arrangements, through to the funeral and committal. Everything was handled compassionately and we were guided through the process with kindness and care.
I know it's never easy to write a review about such a sensitive topic, as it always involves someone's loss. However, I wanted to share my experience with Bayley Brothers Funeral Directors. Given the complexity of my situation, their welcoming, professional, and empathetic approach made the entire process much easier. I highly recommend them, especially in moments of deep sadness. They went above and beyond what was expected, providing invaluable support and patience. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
M
Cannot thank Bayley Brothers enough for their service from start to finish . The family were involved with every detail (and there were a lot ) that mum wished for . From the celebrant Bill to Jo Debra and the guys they all completed a difficult day with respect and dignity which considering we were all wear christmas jumpers in July was an amazing task . They even managed to source a christmas tree complete with lights which mum would have loved . Thank you so much
After having to organise two funerals three months apart all of the staff at Bayley Brothers did everything to help us and nothing was too much trouble. Both funerals were executed perfectly. Cannot recommend highly enough.
